Object history Die Gemeinde Weibersbrunn verdankt ihre Entstehung der Spiegelmanufaktur. Darauf weist der Spiegel im Wappen hin. Der Mainzer Erzbischof Lothar Franz von Schönborn (1695 bis 1729) holte 1698 drei französische Glasmacher in die leer stehende Glashütte in Rechtenbach. Sie sollten hier und in Lohr am Main eine Spiegelfabrik einrichten. Neben diesen beiden Betrieben entstand ein dritter in einem Nebental der Hafenlohr, der zwischen 1699 bis 1717 ausgebaut wurde. In dieser Zeit taucht für diesen Ort erstmals der Name �Weibersbrunn� auf. Die drei Betriebe stellten statt des bisher üblichen Hohlglases Flachglas her. Die Produktion wurde in Rechtenbach 1801 eingestellt, in Lohr 1803, in Weibersbrunn 1864. Das sechsspeichige silberne Rad, das so genannte Mainzer Rad, weist auf die einstige Zugehörigkeit des Ortes zum Erzstift Mainz hin. Der Brunnen steht redend für den Ortsnamenbestandteil �-brunn�.
