Description
Magyar: A Képes Krónika címlapja - Nagy Lajos magyar király a trónon.
A szövegtükör fölött indás, levéldíszes keretben középen kiemelkedő mozaikdíszítésű, baldachinos, fiatornyos trónon ül I. Lajos király, koronás feje kissé jobbra hajlik, arca a száj és az áll körül a miniatúrán megkopott, s így nehezen kivehető. Jobb kezében jogart, baljában országalmát tart. Kezén fehér kesztyű. Pirosbarna csíkos ruhájára hermelin bélés es palást borul. Jobbján nyugati öltözetű páncélos lovagok karddal, pajzzsal, balján keleti, hosszú ruhás, fegyverként íjat, nyilat, szablyát viselő alakok csoportja áll.
Az "A" iniciáléban Alexandriai Szent Katalin jelvényeivel: pálmaág, törött kerék. Az imádkozó királyi pár, I. Lajos király és felesége, Erzsébet letérdel a Szent előtt.
English: First page of the Illuminated Chronicle - King Louis I of Hungary on the Throne.
King Louis I sits on a mosaic-decorated canopy throne with turrets in the middle in a leaf-decorated frame. His crowned head leans slightly to the right, his face around the mouth and chin is worn on the miniature. He holds a scepter in his right hand and an orb in his left hand. He wears white gloves. His reddish-brown striped dress is covered with an ermine lining and cloak. On his right are armored knights in western costumes with swords and shields, on his left is a group of oriental, long-dressed figures with bows, arrows, and sabers. The weapons of those standing to the left of the king are royal insignia according to Eastern custom.
In the initial "A", Saint Catherine of Alexandria with her badges: palm branch, broken wheel. The praying royal couple, King Louis I and his wife Elizabeth kneel in front of the Saint.
