Description
English: Chronicon Pictum (Page 101) - Funeral of King Ladislaus
The picture depicts a scene not mentioned in the text of the chronicle, but present in all known versions of the legend of King Ladislaus, when the carriage carries the king's body without horses towards the burial place he desired, the church of Nagyvárad. The body of King Ladislaus lies in a four-wheeled cart, with a crown and halo on his head, a scepter and an orb in his hands. The carriage pole protruding from the picture clearly shows that there are no horses tied in front of the carriage. On the right is a group of admirers, in the background is the Nagyvárad church built by Ladislaus.
