Summary

Description Ritratto di Aimone di Savoia, detto il Pacifico (Chambéry, 1291 – Montmélian, 1343). Fu conte di Savoia, Aosta e Moriana dal 1329 alla morte. Figlio cadetto di Amedeo V e di Sibilla di Baugé, era stato inizialmente avviato alla carriera ecclesiastica. Il suo governo è tradizionalmente ricordato positivamente sia sul fronte dell’amministrazione dello Stato, sia per essersi adoperato con attività diplomatica di pacificatore tra le due potenze della Francia di Filippo VI e l’Inghilterra di Edoardo III. Fu sepolto nell’abbazia di Altacomba. Sposò Jolanda Paleologo, figlia del marchese di Monferrato.
