English: Even in his early self-portraits he depicted himself as confident. In this one he depicts himself as a member of the royal court, with his gold chain and medallion expectantly alluding to his future honour he will receive in Vienna. The art style closely resembles Rembrandt’s self portraits, which can be seen in the high contrast lighting and special focus on the face. |
